Want a short, exciting safari? This 4-day Tanzania mid-range safari is a good choice. It starts in Arusha, the town where many safaris begin, and takes you to two famous places: Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. It's affordable, a lot of fun and shows you two of Tanzania's best parks in just four days.

Serengeti National Park: You start in Tanzania's most famous park. The Maasai people named its wide, open grasslands “Serengeti”. Depending on the season you may see the Great Migration, when about two million wildebeest are on the move, plus lions, leopards and cheetahs. You'll stay in a comfortable mid-range lodge or tented camp.
Ngorongoro Crater: You finish at this huge crater, sometimes called the 8th wonder of the world. It's a big bowl with walls 600 meters high and up to 30,000 animals inside, including rhinos and elephants. You'll rest in a good mid-range lodge near the crater.

Day 1 Arusha – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast Pick up from your Hotel around 0630am then drive to Serengeti national park. On arrival, proceed to the Serengeti Wildlife lodge for lunch. In the afternoon take a game drive in the park, The park covers 12,944km2 of open plains making it one of the largest in the world. The rocky outcrops commonly known as Moru kopjes in the eastern part of the park are of scenic beauty and occasionally cats can be seen lazing on them. The park contains vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes.

Day 2 Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Breakfast at around 0800am. Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the Camp in the midafternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masaai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. The Serengeti National park is an arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! Come back for dinner and overnight.

If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.
The hot-air balloon gently takes you up in the air and floats wherever the morning winds may take you. During the ride you have a stunning and far-reaching view of the great plains of the Serengeti. From here you can spot big herds of wildebeest, giraffes and prides of lion’s right below you. At the right time of year and with a good amount of luck you might even be able to experience the great migration from above.

Day 3 Serengeti – Ngorongoro crater

Early morning game drives as early as 0630am-0930am, this morning game drive offers you the best chance to capture early morning kills from the big 5. After exploring the park early morning head back for the main breakfast and then after the breakfast departs to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. Lunch will also be served at the Olduvai Gorge as you get the lecture on the evolution theory. Thereafter proceed to Ngorongoro arriving late afternoon where you will spend the next few hours on the rim of the crater.

Day 4 Ngoro Ngoro crater - Arusha

After breakfast descends over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a half day’s safari tour. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, it’s the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here. We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, after lunch proceeds for another afternoon game drive until 1730hrs when you will ascend from the crater and proceed to Moshi arriving late early evening with a drop off into your hotel or back to the Airport if your flight will be the same day.

Later on, will follow the transfer back to Arusha town, or directly to the airport
