Our Safari Vehicle

Our vehicles are set up for both luxury safaris and photographic safaris in Tanzania.

On a full game-drive safari you'll spend a lot of time in the vehicle. That's why, as well as choosing good places for you to stay, we put a lot of care into the vehicle you travel in.

At Kilisa Tours & Safaris, your safety and comfort come first. You'll spend hours driving and watching wildlife in one of our new Safari Cruisers. Each one is custom-built with an extra-large roof hatch for photos, extra dust-proofing, comfortable seats with seat belts and canvas covers, a first aid kit, binoculars, a few field guides and a cooler with bottled mineral water, all supplied by Kilisa Tours & Safaris at no extra cost.

Each Safari Cruiser carries a maximum of six passengers, so everyone gets a window seat and can use the roof hatch throughout the safari. Our vehicles also have a long-range radio linked to our office and to other safari drivers.

This makes our safari vehicle a comfortable choice for families, couples and small groups.

What's the Vehicle Like?

Type: Tough 4WD Toyota Land Cruisers, adapted for Tanzania's rough roads.
Features:
- Pop-up roof: Opens wide for 360-degree views, so you can photograph lions or wildebeest on the move.
- Big windows: Every seat is a window seat, so no one misses the giraffes or elephants.
- Comfortable seats: Cushioned for the long, bumpy drives through the Serengeti or Ngorongoro.
- Extras: Some vehicles have a fridge for cold drinks, power points to charge your gear and even Wi-Fi (though the signal is weak in remote parks).
Capacity: A Land Cruiser typically seats 6-7, but we keep your safari private: just you, your group and your guide.

Tough: These 4x4s handle dusty plains, muddy tracks in the wet season (March-May) and the rocky road down into the crater.
Ready for wildlife: With the pop-up roof and big windows, you get a clear view of the Big Five, and no one is stuck squinting from the back row.
Safety first: Our team checks the vehicles regularly at our base in Moshi to keep breakdowns to a minimum. Guides carry first-aid kits and know what to do if something goes wrong.
