Tour Overview

Chemka/Kikuletwa Hot Springs is a green oasis in the middle of the Tanzanian savannah, with clear water and thick vegetation all around. It looks like something off a postcard.

Chemka is an unusual place, and a rare sight in Tanzania. Groundwater here meets geothermal sources and forms a number of small pools of warm water that keeps flowing and never goes stagnant. The water is as clean and clear as you’d find at a resort in the Dominican Republic or the Maldives.

Around the springs there’s a nice spot for a picnic with good views, and a visit to one of the Maasai huts nearby is worth the time.

From Moshi, the drive starts on the paved road toward Arusha. After about 30 minutes you turn left onto a gravel road that takes you through the countryside, past bush land, dry riverbeds, baobab and acacia trees and much more.

It’s a great place to swim in the warm water and relax.
