Mount Meru Climbing

Mount Meru

Mount Meru stands in the middle of Arusha National Park in Tanzania, and it's a great mountain to climb. Many people trek Mt. Meru before Mt. Kilimanjaro because it helps with acclimatization. But the Mount Meru trek is a rewarding climb in its own right.

Mount Meru has striking views and varied vegetation, and you can watch wildlife during your trek. Mount Meru trekking is also less crowded than the Mt. Kilimanjaro routes.

On the way you may come across animals such as giraffes, buffalo, elephants, gazelles, mandrills, colobus monkeys and many kinds of birds. So your trek is a walking safari too.

The full crater rim walk on Mount Meru is an amazing climb. From the summit you get 360-degree views, and you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro from Meru's peak, which is a real highlight.

Unlike Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru has only one route to the summit: the ‘Momella Route’.
