This 5 Days Calving Season Great Wildebeest Migration Safari in Tanzania is an extended and more relaxed version of our popular 4-day itinerary, designed to provide deeper wildlife immersion and increased game-viewing time during the peak wildebeest calving season in the Ndutu Area.

From January to March, the southern Serengeti ecosystem—particularly the Ndutu Plains within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—becomes the heart of the Great Migration. During this short but intense period, over 500,000 wildebeest calves are born within just a few weeks, attracting a remarkable concentration of predators including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and serval cats.

By adding an extra day, this itinerary allows more time to follow the migration herds, observe predator behavior, and enjoy the landscapes at an unhurried pace. The safari also includes a full descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The safari operates as a drive-in / drive-back itinerary from Arusha, making it ideal for travelers seeking a comprehensive Great Wildebeest Migration calving season safari without internal flights.

  • Extended 5-day safari focused on the wildebeest calving season
  •  Prime wildlife viewing in Ndutu Plains (January–March)
  • Excellent chances to witness big cat hunting action
  • Multiple game drives in Ndutu Area and Ngorongoro Conservation Area
  • Full-day game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater
  • Opportunity to spot the Big Five

All meals during the safari are freshly prepared and served daily. Unlimited bottled mineral water is provided in the safari vehicle to ensure comfort throughout the journey. Special dietary requirements, including halal, vegetarian, pescatarian, or medical diets, can be accommodated with advance notice.

  • More time to follow the wildebeest migration during calving season
    • Increased chances of witnessing predator-prey interactions
    • Less rushed game drives and improved wildlife photography opportunities
    • Ideal balance between Ndutu Plains and Ngorongoro Crater
